I was excited about this product trial, as I just happen to have finished a round of antibiotics recently and my doctor recommended I had some pro biotics to make up for it.
I struggle with the milky pro biotic drinks - I just hate the after taste - so I always have to resort to large, hard to swallow pills when I need a dose a good bacteria in my system.
So yeah, a tasty juice that is also good for your gut was right up my alley!
Here is what Golden Circle have to say about their juices:
"Probiotics are friendly bacteria that help to maintain the balance of good and bad bugs in our intestines. Different probiotics perform different functions, but, for our juice, we wanted the ones that help to support our natural immune defences.
The Probi Defendum™ probiotic combination is clinically shown to support the body’s natural defences when taken daily and is unique to Golden Circle Healthy Life™ Fruit Juice with Probiotic Cultures."
I first tried the juices on their own. I normally have lots of veggie juices or veggie + fruit juices and found the fruit only probiotic juices a bit too sweet for my liking.
So I got creative and came up with a smoothie recipe:
Melbourne Dining Probiotic Smoothie
Ingredients
- 200mL Golden Circil Probiotic breakfast juice, chilled
- 200mL unsweetened natural yoghurt (I used organic buffalo milk yoghurt, which can be replaced by coconut or soy based yoghurt)
- 1 small carrot, peeled
- 1 tablespoon of LSA mix (linseed, sunflower and almond)
- ice to taste
Method
Blend well with a juicer or food processor
Voila! This is what I got in the end. Not overly sweet, super refreshing. I liked adding the LSA meal for some texture.
Great way to start my day AND boost my immunity!
