Wow! Got here 8.30am on a Sunday and the place was almost full ALREADY. By 9am all the tables were taken. I guess Three Bags Full have been under the spotlight lately; mentioned on every newspaper, food blog, food website, etc - no wonder Sunday brunch would be a busy time for a visit.
This place is a new venture by the same guys that used to run Liar Liar in Hawthorn. The decor, menu and atmosphere are quite similar to their previous cafe.
Food was great, especially considering how busy they were. I ordered good old home made muesli with yoghurt and poached rhubarb, which came in a huge serve and could easily serve 2.

Mashed avocado with fetta served on organic multi grain toast also came in a huge serve. It look really fresh; my friend really liked it.

Also like Liar Liar, Three Bags Full offer a variety of coffee beans to take home and have some single origin coffees to choose from in the cafe. We a pretty good (but not outstanding) double ristretto.

Poached eggs on toast were perfectly cooked, so much better than my other eggs experience last weekend.

Hubby went for his favourite Liar Liar dish, repeated here: BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato) on pide. Probably a bit much for 8.30am, but as good as the original.

The verdict: if you like Liar Liar, you'll also like this place. They serve tasty, hearty food AND really good coffee. However, if you don't like queuing up from a weekend brunch, I recommend you either go really early or try it on a week day.
Wow, I guess you have to be an early bird to catch this particular worm. It does seem worth getting out of bed for though, particularly those avocados!
ReplyDeleteI'm such a sucker for rhubarb - I would happily have been your "second" with that breakfast! :P
ReplyDeleteThe California girl in me applauds the BLAT. And that berry smoothie looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
Hi Conor - I'm addicted to Sunday brunches at the moment and really enjoyed this place - will be going back.
ReplyDeleteHannah - poached rhubarb was delicious. They always get it right!
Camille - Glad you liked the pictures. I am LOVING reading your blog and feel desperate to go back to Paris at the moment :)
