FRANKIE SAYS - Preview

15 Acacia Place, Abbotsford -  set to open in late January 2015

There could be no better day for Frankie Says' launch party. The weather was warm, the sun was setting by the river, wine and music flowing... the perfect relaxed atmosphere.

Frankie Says founders Megan Phillis and James Meehan wanted to create a place that embodies Italian culture of sharing food and feels like a home away from home.

The setting they put together for the launch party was just that - a chilled out back drop to share a glass of wine and some good conversation with your friends.

The concept is sharing dishes and stone oven pizzas that you can customise with your own choice of ingredients. Lots of local, fresh ingredients plus some top quality Italian imports.

Here is a bit of what we tried:

All the cheese and cured meats were fantastic. I specially liked the burrata with a soft, melting centre.

House baked breads - olive and rosemary was my favourite.

The flourless chocolate mud cake with marshmallow 'mushrooms' was fantastic. Nicely dense, moist and not overly sweet.

Frankie Says is not too far from home and sounds like it will become a local favourite. We'll be back in new year.

Big thank you to Vanessa at Cassette for the invite!
