Went to the Good food & wine show this Monday with some friends. The show was held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre and was a huge event.
There was a large section for wine where you could taste a large variety of labels from predominantly from Victoria. Glass maker Riedel was hosting tasting sessions with wine makers every hour for the wine enthusiasts.
The food session included anything from chips, breads, cakes to jams, nuts, cereals, cooking & cleaning products (I guess for when you make a mess in the kitchen...). Most exhibitors had tastings - I definitely overdid on the chocolate tastings; so much to choose from!
There were quite a few interesting products and a lot of exhibitors focusing on organic products, as compared to last year.
And there was an awful lot of pre-made easy-meal-solutions as well, which were not exactly my favourites.
The highlights of the show to me were the Lyndey Milan regional producers market showcasing beautiful fresh produce and the Tassal (http://www.tassal.com.au/) stand with demonstrations & tasting of simple, fresh recipes ideas using fresh and smoked salmon.
You could also sample dishes from famous chefs like Tobie Puttock, MasterChef's George Calombaris & Gordon Ramsay.
Would love to hear your comments about the show, specially about the celebrity master classes.
