Melbourne + summer = trip to Mornington Peninsula.

Yes, it's the busiest time to venture a road trip; accommodation price doubles, fine dining restaurants book out weeks in advance and everything is so busy BUT Mornington Peninsula is the place to be and people (myself included) arrive in flocks.
Mornington town is the gateway to the peninsula and sometimes neglected by tourists going to Sorrento and Portsea. I actually quite like Mornington - so nice shops, good cafes, close to heaps of good wineries and a lot more laidback than further down the peninsula.

The Winey Cow is located in bustling Main St Mornington and is the brainchild of proprietors and Mornington locals Jill & Campbell Henderson. It's a modern oz cafe and wine bar with an impressive range of local wines by the glass.
We've been there a couple of times now for brunch, and a couple more solely to have some of their loose leaf Prana Chai latte. Soooo good!

Food is along the lines of most trendy Melbourne cafes - expect all variations of eggs on toast, smashed avocado and muesli.
There is also lots of healthy super food salads with plenty of kale leading the way on the 'trendy greens' department.

Polenta chips are also on the menu and THEY ARE AWESOME. I've ordered it both times I visited for lunch and both times The Winey Cow delivered crispy, fluffy, tasty chips. Recommended.
