The team behind vegan restaurant Smith & Daughters is opening a New York-style deli, complete with home-style Jewish cuisine, fresh fruit and veg grocer, takeaway coffee and sandwiches.
Following the success of Fitzroy strictly vegan restaurant Smith & Daughters, Mo Wyse and Shannon Martinez are now opening a deli nearby to not only expand the range of food they offer, but also grow their production kitchen.

We were invited to the media launch of Smith & Deli last weekend. The deli has a small shop front and focuses on convenient, grab-and-go, homemade dishes. The idea is to offer take home meals like lasagne, pizzas and soups) and breakfast and lunch options to takeaway, as well as vegan cooking ingredients.

Given how much I love my meat (and cheese and butter), a vegan deli would not necessarily be my first point of call for convenient foods, but I have to say I enjoyed what I tried.
I'm definitely not a fan of the fake meats and decided to stick to the - super tasty - vegetarian salads. Filling and full of flavour.
The sweets are also winners. The girls loved their apple pie and I was pleasantly surprised with the butterless almond croissant.

Smith & Deli opens to the public tomorrow and is definitely worth a visit for anyone travelling through Fitzroy.
Thanks Luke from Curated Control for the invite!
