CAFE DE CUBA - Great for Sunday Brunch

I just love this place! Cafe de Cuba is an old favourite from the time I used to live in St Kilda. Now, living on the other side of town, I still make the 30min drive to Elwood just to enjoy their Sunday brunch.

Cafe de Cuba has great breakfast and lunch options. Their lunch specials are generally a good way to (I specially like their onion soup!).

I ordered their Eggs Benedict with ham. Eggs were perfectly cooked and the hollandaise sauce was really creamy and thick.

My husband chose their BLT (bacon, lettuce, tomato AND swiss cheese) with a side of fries. Fries were crispy and crunchy - I LOVE THEIR CHIPS!

Funny I should write about Cafe de Cuba today; I've been there a million times, and have always got great service and great food. Yesterday however, service was reeeeealy slow. I mean, the table next to us who arrived after us finished their meal before we got our drinks. I think they lost our order.
Anyways, after 40min waiting for our food and drinks, my husband complained to the waiter, who didn't seem to have the slightest idea about what was going on.
I think these situations are the real test for a good eatery: the moment they realised they had screwed up, they really made a point of apologising: we got an extra drink and food came quickly after that.
On our way out, the owner made a point of apologising again and offered me a muffin to take home.
So that's it. Although service was slow this time, Cafe de Cuba's staff made such a point in amending it that we left the place feeling pretty good - as you should after a weekend brunch. Well done guys - I'll keep coming back!
Note: on sunny days, try to get one of their outdoor tables to enjoy the sea breeze.
